IEEE is the worlds largest professional technical organization with over 400000 members worldwide and IEEE Spectrum is the organizations award-winning flagship publication. We are looking for an intern with a background or a strong interest in science and technology who is interested in explaining technological breakthroughs to a broad but educated audience.
The internship is mostly reporting and writing news for the website and the magazine. However past interns have also been involved in features for special reports infographics podcasts profiles reviews and video production. The goal is for the intern to come away having written a number of in-depth news stories suitable for the print magazine. The heart of most such stories is explaining how something quite complicated works. Thats our bread-and-butter and our readers are very demanding on this point. So if you can do it here you can do it anywhere.
Internships typically run September through December. Youll work out of our New York City office up to 30 hours per week.
