Job Summary:

The Surgical Services Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment used in various hospital units. This role supports the surgical team by ensuring all sterile supplies meet quality and safety standards. The technician may float between units and must be knowledgeable about sterile processing methods and robotic instrumentation to maintain efficient and safe surgical services.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminate, clean, and inspect surgical instruments and equipment.
• Assemble and prepare instrument sets for sterilization according to hospital protocols.
• Operate sterilization equipment and ensure proper sterilization of all supplies.
• Distribute sterile instruments and supplies to surgical and clinical areas as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and instrument tracking.
• Adhere to infection control policies and safety standards.
• Support multiple hospital units by floating between assigned areas.
• Utilize knowledge of SPM (Sterile Processing Management) and robotic instrumentation to handle specialized surgical tools.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Knowledge and experience in sterile processing techniques.
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and sterilization equipment.
• Ability to follow strict infection control and safety protocols.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with robotic surgical instrumentation.
• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or equivalent.
• Experience with Sterile Processing Management (SPM) systems.

Special Considerations:

• No on-call duties required.
• No weekend or block schedules required.
• Must be able to float between different hospital units as needed.
• Adherence to hospital dress code: OR/L&D provided scrubs; Micro Bio Tech business appropriate street clothes with lab coat; MLT any color scrubs or business casual.

Scheduling:

• Standard shifts with no weekend or on-call requirements.
• Shift assignments may vary based on unit needs and floating requirements.
