Job Description

The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and clinically skilled Radiation Therapist to join our radiation oncology team full-time. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for accurately delivering prescribed radiation treatments, supporting patient care throughout the treatment process, and working collaboratively with the oncology team. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional who is committed to patient-centered care, radiation safety, technical accuracy, and supporting patients and families during an important part of their cancer care journey.

Qualifications

· Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program required.

· ARRT certification and registration in Radiation Therapy required, or eligibility with certification obtained within the required timeframe.

· Current Connecticut radiation therapist licensure, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to employment, required.

· Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required within the organization’s designated timeframe.

· Prior experience in a radiation oncology setting preferred; new graduates with strong clinical preparation may be considered.

· Strong knowledge of radiation safety, patient positioning, treatment delivery, and documentation standards.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.

· Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and compassion.

Schedule and Employment Status

This is a full-time position with a regular weekday schedule. Specific hours will be discussed during the interview process and may vary based on departmental needs.

Key Responsibilities

· Administer radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist and in accordance with established clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.· Accurately position patients for treatment using immobilization devices, imaging guidance, and approved treatment parameters.· Review treatment plans, prescriptions, patient identification, and treatment records prior to each treatment delivery.· Operate linear accelerators and related radiation therapy equipment safely, accurately, and efficiently.· Monitor patients during treatment and report changes, concerns, reactions, or treatment-related issues to the appropriate clinical team member.· Provide clear explanations, reassurance, and compassionate support to patients throughout the treatment process.· Document treatment delivery, patient responses, setup details, and related information accurately in the electronic medical record.· Follow radiation protection principles and infection control procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.· Participate in quality assurance activities, equipment checks, chart rounds, huddles, and interdisciplinary communication as needed.· Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, organizational policies, and applicable state and federal requirements.
