Job Title: Project Manager (Structural Steel Fabrication & Erection)

Location: Richmond, VA

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000

Tiello has partnered with a well-established Structural Steel Fabricator/Erector on their search for a Project Manager in the Richmond, VA area. This organization supports a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial projects and is known for delivering complex steel packages with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

Role Summary:

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing structural steel projects from award through closeout, ensuring successful delivery in terms of schedule, budget, safety, and quality. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for clients and will coordinate across internal departments including detailing, procurement, fabrication, and logistics.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex fabrication-driven projects and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong client relationships.

Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals – Commercial/Industrial (Healthcare, Data Centers, Warehouses, Education)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews contract documents, scope of work, and project requirements for completeness
  • Develops and manages project schedules, budgets, and execution plans
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinates with internal teams including detailing, engineering, procurement, fabrication, coatings, and logistics
  • Manages material procurement and subcontractor coordination to ensure timely delivery
  • Tracks project progress, providing updates on schedule, cost, and earned value metrics
  • Identifies project risks and implements mitigation strategies
  • Manages RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Ensures adherence to quality, safety, and contract requirements
  • Supports invoicing, billing, and collections efforts as needed
  • Monitors project performance and escalates issues as necessary to leadership

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • At least 5-10+ years of Project Management experience within structural steel fabrication/erection
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, shop workflow, and project lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of TEKLA EPM software
  • Bluebeam/MS Office Products
  • Experience coordinating across multiple departments (detailing, procurement, production, field)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent industry experience
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.
