FINISHING GRINDER

Position Summary

Steel Forgings Inc. (SFI) is a leading manufacturer of custom butt weld fittings that has been servicing the oil and gas industry for over 70 years. SFI is seeking an experienced individual for our pipe shop department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operation of pneumatic and electric hand held surface grinders.
• Produce a smooth finish using surface grinders on all company products as directed.
• Ensure pipe is marked properly according to company procedures.
• Know and understand the quality and presentation requirements for all products.
• Coordinate required tooling changes with other operators.
• Keep work area free and clear of all potential safety hazards.
• Follow all company-standard and position-specific safety requirements.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
• Report any unsafe working conditions to the Department Supervisor.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Department Supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
• Working in temperature zones that may include hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present.

Work Environment

• Industrial manufacturing setting
• Exposure to heat, noise, dust, and heavy equipment
• Required to wear safety gear (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection)
• May include overtime and shift work

• Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, and climbing.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Working in temperature zones that may include hot environments for extended periods and environments where dust is present.

• No experience required — on-the-job training provided
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
• Ability to follow instructions
• Dependable and punctual
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
